There is no news that Bethesda is happy to take its time when developing new games. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion started in 2002 and was released five years later, in 2007. The sequel to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is said to have been in development about seven years ago. Next address It was revealed in 2018 But it has not been given a name of its own other than The Elder Scrolls VI.
Information about the game is minimal to say the least. There is a short video of a mountain landscape unknown in the game world Nirn, probably in Tamriel. The only thing that’s been confirmed for sure is that Thesda’s Creation Engine is used. However, it is not at present Almost old version Found in previous titles, but instead Bethesda’s new Creativity Engine 2.
It’s good to think of The Elder Scrolls 6 as still in design [phase]…but we check the tech: “Will this handle the things we want to do in that game?” Every game will have some new wings of technology so Elder Scrolls 6 will have some additions to the Creation Engine 2 that this game will require – Todd Howard, Executive Producer at Bethesda
The choice of the game engine was confirmed by Bethesda executive producer Todd Howard, in an interview with telegraph (via Wccftech). It also states that they have begun investigating how and if the game engine can handle their desires for how the game should be designed, but the game is still in the design stage.
In fact, I shouldn’t be dismissive of the question, which means that the time frame for Bethesda Game Studios titles hasn’t changed at all. What has changed is our desire to map out those titles, not like, hey, they’re going to release a game every nine months, no, it still takes years between projects, but because we’ve been doing something like that differently from Fallout 76, taking this franchise in a different direction. And, doing an online game that doesn’t sound like something you’d expect from BGS, we thought it was important to say: Hey, new IP, single player, flag—in something to come, we’re doing The Elder Scrolls VI next. – Todd Howard, Executive Producer at Bethesda
Howard further explains that the 2018 reveal was key to showing players what lies in the future of Bethesda. Their schedule hasn’t changed, just how they chose to share it. After so much focus on the new Fallout and Starfield series, they wanted to assure players that The Elder Scrolls had not fallen into oblivion. So it may take several years before the next game sees the light of day.
However, development periods of 5-7 years are not necessarily as extreme as it might seem. It is not uncommon for development to occur at a slower pace in the early years, and then to accelerate towards the end. Larger game studios often juggle multiple projects and have to prioritize their resources accordingly. With regards to Bethesda, it’s possible that the new title Starfield will currently be given more focus until its launch.
Where and when do you hope the next The Elder Scrolls title will come?
