Rabbit has taken on a big mission, it wants to do what smartphones were supposed to do when they were launched, make your life easier and save time. Now it turns out that smartphones are rather a waste of your time. Everything you might want to do on your mobile phone is separated into different apps, and the most popular apps in app stores are now entertainment. Rabbit has made great progress in the field of artificial intelligence, which they believe can simplify your life.
Current major language models, such as GPT 4.0, are good at understanding what you say or write, but they cannot perform actions. You can ask chatbot Chat GPT about the cheapest flight to London, but you can't ask it to buy the ticket. Rabbit has developed a Large Action Model (LAM), which should be able to execute actions in different operating systems, be it Android, IOS or Windows.
The new main business model is used by the company's Rabbit OS. With it, you should be able to ask your AI assistant to buy tickets, play music, and more. To use the operating system, Rabbit, in collaboration with the Swedish company Teenage Engineering, developed a small handheld device, the Rabbit r1.
The Rabbit r1 is a small orange box with a touchscreen, an analogue scroll wheel, some microphones and headphones, a button to talk to, and a rotating camera called the Rabbit Eye. The device also has a 4G SIM card slot.
The idea behind Rabbit r1 is that it should be as easy to use as possible. Simply press the speak button and in natural language ask Rabbit r1 to perform a task or answer a question. If you shake the device, you can also reveal the keyboard.
To fully use the Rabbit r1, for example to play music or order food, you need to link the device to your accounts on different services. You can do this via the company's Rabbit Hole service. There you can log in and authenticate to several applications, and choose which application you want Rabbit r1 to use when you ask it, for example, to play music or order a taxi.
The Rabbit r1 can be pre-ordered now, and the first two boxes are already fully booked. The unit costs 2078 SEK.
