Game studio Take-Two doesn’t like the name “It Takes Two” | Movie Zen

The company behind games like ‘Grand Theft Auto’ and ‘Bioshock’ believes the Swedish game’s name ‘It Takes Two’ is a trademark infringement.

When the game “It takes two” Released earlier this spring, it called it “a flowery, heart-wrenching, humorous and cinematic experience for gamers that rarely gets boring.” It was also nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2021, which airs December 9.

However, not everyone likes the game, at least not the name.

Eurogamer’s website Reports indicate that Take-Two Interactive (which publishes “Grand Theft Auto” among other things) made a trademark claim in “It Takes Two” when the game was released, because it is very similar to the company’s name.

According to reports, Joseph Fair’s subsidiary Hazelight has had to give up ownership of the game’s name because of this.

In a statement to Eurogamer, a company spokesperson said the studio “cannot comment on ongoing lawsuits” but that they “hope to resolve them”. If that means they can’t sell “It Takes Two” or it’s slowing down a potential sequel, they don’t want to comment either.

This isn’t the first time Take-Two has claimed names that contain links to words like “rockstar,” “social club,” “mafia,” and “civilization.” For example, a company called “Think Like A Rockstar” had to give up its brand after Take-Two heard about it.
