EA today announced that it is developing The Sims 5, which anyone who feels it’s time for a new Sims will likely expect it. The game, currently codenamed Project Rene, will apparently give players the opportunity to play alone and with other players. Players will be able to share structures and build objects with other players regardless of which platform they are playing on.
The presentation, which you can see above, showed how someone looked at a furniture catalog on their phone and then filled the room with furniture that they could then modify on the computer.
EA also mentioned that the game will give people the ability to build more unique worlds and buildings. The examples shown were someone taking apart a bed and then manually modifying the look of the headboard and couches by choosing different cushions and then adjusting them to the sofa itself.
However, there is still a long way to go before The Sims 5 is released, so EA and Maxis will continue to support The Sims 4 (which is free to play today) with updates and expansions for even longer. Over the next year, The Sims 4, for example, will receive two new expansions that will include even more exciting kids.
