During the 20/21 season, 21-year-old Briton Liam Kirk was loaned to Hanhals IF in the Swedish First Division. There he earned ten points in twelve games before returning home to play for the Sheffield Steelers.
In May, he was then part of the British World Cup team that charmed many during the World Cup in Riga, Latvia. There was success for Kirk who scored seven goals in the most matches, as well as two assist points.
With this result, he ended up participating first in the shooting league with Canadian Andrew Mangyapan, although he played two fewer matches.
Rumored to Sweden
Before the World Cup, Kirk was rumored to be on his way to Dalarna to play a match with Mora in allsvenskan hockey. However, Team Dalla will sign him before the tournament to have a chance to tie him up. They probably didn’t have a chance anyway, because the British career is now taking a completely different path.
During a Friday night Swedish time, the Arizona club came out of the NHL and told them they had signed a three-year contract with the 21-year-old.
It’s always been my dream to play in the NHL. Getting this deal with Arizona feels great. I am now one step closer to achieving that dream and will continue to push myself to reach the highest level, says Kirk via the British Hockey Association.
Kirk was drafted to Arizona 2018 in the seventh round as the 189th overall.
