Inspired by Star Wars and Kurosawa.
Zach Snyder has a sci-fi movie in the works that’s set for a limited release in theaters in November and on Netflix in December. It’s called Rebel Moon and it draws inspiration from Star Wars as well as the classic samurai films by Akira Kurosawa. Yesterday, Snyder had a conversation Bursa And the Nerd Queens talked about the movie there, but also revealed that a game based on it is on the way.
The one thing I really enjoy, and I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about, is the role-playing that we do. It’s completely crazy. Very sympathetic, very intense and very gigantic.
He says he’s always wanted to make an RPG, so he was on board as soon as he heard the idea. He was also given the choice of making the game “on this scale” or “on such an absurd scale”, unsurprisingly that he chose the latter. We don’t know who is actually developing the game, but since Netflix is involved, it could be one of their studios.
The plot of the film revolves around a colony on the edge of the galaxy being threatened by a tyrannical leader, so they send one of their own to nearby planets to seek help to overthrow the leader. The movie that will come this winter is the first part of the story, and the second is to be filmed in parallel.
Below you can see a short teaser for the movie.
