Windows 11 Moment 3 introduces many small novelties

With Windows 11, Microsoft has switched from two major feature updates per year to one, but in between these updates, the company also releases several smaller updates with new and redesigned features. Known as ‘Moment’, Moment 3 is now arriving as part of the mandatory July update. KB5028185.

New in Moment 3 is, among other things, a new VPN icon in the notification bar to the right of the taskbar. Appears when your computer is connected to a VPN service using the built-in Windows VPN functionality. However, it does not recognize third-party software, which is common among users who subscribe to a commercial service.

Another novelty is the button for one-time copying of codes. It detects icons directly in the notification announcing that an email has reached the inbox and works a bit like Android and IOS’s automatic pasting of one-time icons from SMS.

The news slate also includes improved stability for the Desktop Window Manager and a feature that allows Terminal to be run as an administrator from a regular user account, by logging into an administrator account for just that application. Plus, as usual, bug fixes and security improvements are included.
