Here are the five nominees for the P4 Sörmland Sports Award in 2021.
Vote for who you think should win by Sunday, January 30th.
The criteria for the sports award are: An athlete who grew up in Sörmland or represents the Sörmland Association and made a big sporting breakthrough in 2021.
About the candidates:
Maja Lightning 19 years old, Eskilstuna, athletics: triple jump and long jump
She was awarded the P4 Sörmland Sports Award in 2020 after jumping the third longest triple jump in the world.
In 2021, she made history by becoming the first Swede to win two JVM golds in the same tournament and also double two JVM golds.
Dennis Kernin – 21 years old, Katarinaholm / Nykoping, boat
Dennis lives in Katarinaholm but competes with Nyköping and in 2021 he was a hit when he won WC gold in the K2 1000m in Copenhagen. Denis Kernin won the World Cup gold with Martin Nettle.
Eric Holmer – 26 years old, Nykoping, canoe slalom
Erik made his international achievement last year and became the first Swede to reach an Olympic final in slalom.
Lina Dagher – 24 years old, Spariolm, Ågesta Equestrian Club
With a new SM dressage gold in her bag, she went to the U25 EC in Hagen and the result was team bronze, best Swedish and best new dressage character.
Jennifer Williams – 16 years old, Eskilstuna, gymnastics
Jennifer made her international breakthrough when she was big when she sensationally reached the final of the 2021 World Gymnastics Final.
