MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The British government has asked the UK government to authorize the exodus of British-Iranian Nazan Zakari-Radcliffe, who was sentenced to five years in prison for espionage.
The woman was released last March, but was subsequently forced to wear an electronic surveillance ankle. On March 7, Iranian authorities recalled the device.
“We welcome the fact that Nassan’s Zakari-Radcliffe has been allowed to have his ankle removed, but the treatment Iran continues to provide is unbearable. He should be allowed to return to the UK soon to be reunited with his family,” British Foreign Secretary Dominic Robb wrote on Twitter.
