British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced his resignation on Thursday following massive criticism from his own party. This comes after around 60 ministers and members of parliament quit their posts in protest at Johnson’s leadership and scandals.
One of the first to resign in protest was top finance minister Rishi Sunak, who was instrumental in mass defections and Johnson’s downfall.
In a video posted on Twitter, Rishi Sunak is now launching his party leadership campaign and has announced that he is ready to take on both the posts of party president and prime minister.
– He says in the video that someone should catch this situation and take the right decision.

In the video, she talks about her background and immigrant heritage and the opportunities Britain has provided her family. He promises to give the same opportunities to the next generation.
– I want to lead this country in the right direction. “I did a tough job during tough times with Covid-19 and my values are non-negotiable – patriotism, justice and hard work,” he says in the video.
Boris Johnson will remain Prime Minister until a new candidate is appointed. Among others, other potential candidates are doing the rounds, such as Foreign Secretary Liz Truss and Defense Secretary Ben Wallace. However, the latter announced on Saturday that he would not stand in the party leadership race.

Party colleagues have already given their support
A timetable for how and when a new successor will be appointed will be announced next week BBC. The goal should be to have a new party leader and prime minister in September.

Most recently, Boris Johnson offered Conservative politician Chris Fincher a top government job despite allegations of sexual harassment. Chris Fincher was forced to resign, and it was revealed that the Prime Minister had been fully aware of Chris Fincher’s behavior and previous sexual harassment allegations for years.
