Jason Statham is expected to return to the lead role battling new creatures below sea level in “Meg 2: The Trench.”

Recordings for “The Meg”, the Shark Shaker from 2018, which was an unexpectedly huge cinematic hit, have finally begun. The sequel, titled “Meg 2: The Trench”, which has just begun filming in the UK, confirms that diverse.

Production takes place at Warner Bros. A studio outside London, known as the filming location for a number of major franchises, from Harry Potter to Marvel and DC productions. Featured on the record is Ben Wheatley, who was last seen with Netflix’s romantic thriller Rebecca.

The plot of the film has not yet been revealed, but the assumption is that Jason Statham will reprise his main role as diver and shark fighter Jonas Taylor. Actress Li Bingbing is also expected to return, but otherwise the cast is kept secret.

“The Meg” didn’t really make it home with critics, but it was more of a hit on the broad audience front. In the weeks following its premiere, the film quickly climbed to the charts, grossing hundreds of millions of dollars.
