Polestar establishes new development center in Coventry, UK

The high-performance electric vehicles of the future require new technology and will be developed in Coventry, where Polestar employs around 60 engineers. The area is an automotive technology cluster with several universities and development companies.

Volvo Car Company High-performance electric vehicle company Polestar is expanding its research and development capacity. Polestar is doing this by establishing a new facility in Coventry, Great Britain, where about 60 engineers will be employed.

The high-performance electric cars of the future – those that come after the Polestar 3 – require new technology and this expertise will be built at the Polestar R&D center in Coventry:

Together Coventry and Warwickshire form an area that has developed an automotive technology cluster consisting of around 15 universities and several specialist companies. Among other things, the Aston Martin factory and several Jaguar Land Rover facilities are located here.

The company that owns Volvo Cars and Polestar, Chinese group Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, bought British sports car manufacturer Lotus in 2017. Their factory and headquarters are located in Hethel, just east of Coventry. Geely is building a new design center in Coventry Where you have to carry out missions for Lotus, Lynk & Co, Proton and the London Electric Vehicle Company (which, among other things, builds the London taxi).
