Paradox reduced sales by 9 percent

Analysts calculated an average of SEK 63.2 million according to Infront’s compilation of three estimates.

Net sales were 365 million SEK, compared to an expected 355 million SEK.

During the first quarter, Paradox wrote off 34.4 million SEK in respect of two yet-to-be-announced games where development was completed.

Two games end

“We recently adjusted our weighting with the result that we are investing a greater portion of our investment and resources in the core areas of strategy and management games / … / To increase our focus, we also chose during the quarter to finish developing two yet-to-be-announced games developed by external development studios.” , The company wrote in its interim report.

Decline in sales

During the quarter, Paradox sales decreased 9% and operating profit decreased 44%. A large portion of the company’s revenue is in dollars and other foreign currencies. The dollar / krona exchange rate fell by 13 percent from the first quarter of 2020 to the first quarter of this year, which, according to the company, had a significant negative impact on the quarter’s revenue.

“We are not happy with the quarter. Sometimes there are periods of decreased game releases and expansions – but we know better and our ambitions are higher,” wrote CEO Ebba Ljungerud.
