The live-action film will be produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad and directed by Wes Ball.
“The Legend of Zelda” will be produced by Nintendo and Arad Productions Inc and financed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment. More than 50% of the film will be financed by Nintendo itself. Sony Pictures will handle theatrical distribution.
Earlier this year, Nintendo also released “Super Mario Bros. The Movie” Which the company co-produced with Universal Pictures and Illumination. The animated film was a huge success which also led to increased sales of Nintendo’s Super Mario games.
