Chinese TCL made a name for itself thanks to TVs with good picture and sound performance at a good price. Now it is the turn of 2021 models: During a live press conference on Tuesday, many new models were launched for the Northern Market.
C825: The New MiniLED
TCL C825 takes the stick after the popular C815, Which we tested with good results in 2020. The newcomer comes with the latest Android user interface from Google and support for HDR video formats like Dolby Vision.
TCL C825 has a new image board with Quantum Dot color filter, which uses the new MiniLED technology. The backlight consists of thousands of small LEDs, which are divided into hundreds of zones with individual control. It enables stronger contrast and more accurate light distribution than conventional LCD screens.
The C825 uses a 100Hz panel frequency for good motion management for sports, games or action movies. Gaming functions are also well taken care of, with HDMI 2.1, support for 4K / 120Hz, and VRR (variable refresh rate). TCL promises a dedicated game mode (Game Master Pro) with a delay of less than 15ms.
First test of MiniLED-TV
MiniLED is this year’s hottest news on the TV front: With the help of thousands of tiny LEDs, manufacturers hope to breathe new life into LCD technology. Chinese TCL is one of the first to use the novelty.
Onkyo audio solution
In terms of sound, the C825 is equipped with Onkyo’s 2.1 audio solution, which among other things supports Dolby Atmos audio processing. The speaker solution consists of front speakers along with a subwoofer on the back of the TV.
We are very excited to launch our next Mini LED model in the Northern Market. In addition to QLED, 4K and large screens, Mini LED is one of the most in-demand functions that customers demand at the moment, says Johan Haas, Country Manager at TCL Nordics. Since we were the first to actually use the Mini LED in 2019, it feels like a very important step to be able to build on the forward-looking stance we have. And as usual – at a reasonable price! Hass says.
