Newcastle had been hoping Alexander Isaacs would make his debut on Sunday.
But the Swedish striker missed the Wolverhampton match, as he was not granted the work permit after the club presented it on Friday, and was forced to follow the match from the stands.
The first appearance may be delayed.
according to Northern Echo The papers are behind, which could mean Isaacs will also miss Wednesday’s game against Liverpool.
Monday is a public holiday in Great Britain.
– This is our first work permit that has taken this long. I don’t know if it’s a bank holiday, it’s possible. But I would be very disappointed if, in a way, we can’t use it on Wednesday, says Newcastle coach Eddie Howe.
Isaac: “We really believe in the project”
Since last fall, Newcastle United has been owned by a Saudi state investment fund, making the club, on paper, the richest in world football.
Alexander Isak was bought from Real Sociedad for 740 million Swedish kronor, a sum that makes the 22-year-old the most expensive club in the Premier League ever.
– I’m glad it’s over. Isaacs told the club’s website on Friday that it was a big, big decision for me, but one I’m very happy with.
