Movie Snap + Juice Back Mini | reconsidering

Do you have problems with your mobile phone battery running out before the end of the day? An external battery may be the solution.

Apple 12 and later has a feature called Magsafe. It consists, among other things, of a ring and a magnet line on the back of the mobile phone. The magnet ensures that the accessories are installed in exactly the right place on the back. A variety of accessories support Magsafe.

Magsafe enables, among other things, wireless charging using Qi technology. Mophie Snap + Juice Pack Mini is a wireless battery (power bank) with Magsafe support, but the accessory does not have a Magsafe license. On the back there are matching areas for the MagSafe magnet. Press the battery power button and place it on the back of the mobile phone. Thanks to the magnet, the Snap + Juice Pack Mini finds the correct position and starts charging. The battery is connected fairly tightly, but it can come off if you are a little careless.

I tested the Snap + Juice Pack Mini on two mobile phones, partly the iPhone 13 and partly the iPhone 12 mini. Battery fit iPhone 12 to 14 except for 13 Pro. The battery works poorly in the 12 mini as the bottom edge protrudes out and the battery blocks the bottom camera.

The battery can also be used with other cell phones with Qi charging although there is no Magsafe. It comes with a magnetic ring called the snap adapter. With the help of a special piece of cardboard, you can measure exactly where the ring is located on the back of the mobile phone or case. Once the battery is suspended, it can be connected to the battery and Qi charging begins. Charging works as it should, but the battery is not well installed in the mobile. Since there are no magnets to align the battery, it does spin a bit anyway.

Because the Snap + Juice Pack Mini uses Qi wireless technology, other Qi-enabled products can be charged. For example, Apple’s Qi-compatible headphones can be charged by placing them on the battery.

The Snap + Juice Pack Mini is shipped using a USB-C cable. This socket can also be used to charge various accessories or mobile phones if desired. Power via USB-C is 12W, while wireless charging is 7.5W. Licensed MagSafe chargers can handle twice that, 15 watts.

The battery capacity of the Snap + Juice Pack Mini is 5000 mAh (mAh). It should be enough to charge many cell phones to 100 percent. The Snap + Juice Pack Mini managed to charge my dead iPhone from 13 to 63 percent which is disappointing. What if I can’t make it after that extra 63%. I think it is reasonable that the Snap + Juice Pack Mini is able to charge the iPhone from 13 to 100 percent. The battery in the iPhone 13 is 3240 mAh.

With recalculation, the true capacity is 40 percent of the 5,000 mA mentioned. In iMovie’s defense, the actual capacity of a portable battery is almost always significantly less than the stated capacity.

The design is really successful. The battery perfectly decorates the back of the phone. Since the Snap + Juice Pack Mini does not have an overly high capacity, Mophie has been able to keep the weight down. In addition, the battery is not particularly thick, which means, along with a well-chosen surface, that it rests comfortably in the hand without slipping.

Snap + Juice Pack Mini is a stylish and easy to use external battery pack that fits nicely in the back of the mobile phone. With better actual ability, the rating was high. Now seven will be weak.

The good

  • cute design
  • Just the right size – light
  • It can charge headphones and other Qi-compatible products
  • Also charges via USB-C

bad

  • The measured capacity is only 40% of the mentioned
  • Snap adapter does not work satisfactorily on mobile phones not compatible with Magsafe
  • Too big for the iPhone 12 Mini
  • Does not fit iPhone 13 Pro
