Yesterday Frameworks introduced this year’s version of its Laptop 13 benchmark laptop, and perhaps the biggest news is that the computer can now be equipped with an AMD processor.
The upgraded version of the Laptop 13 will now be available for purchase with AMD Ryzen 7040 or 13th Generation Intel Core processors, Framework wrote in a blog post. In addition to the new processor options, Framework will also release a 61Wh battery, which is an upgrade from the current 55Wh battery pack.
If you already have a 13″ laptop, you can replace your current motherboard with a new one that supports AMD Ryzen 7040. However, you also need to replace your computer’s DDR5 memory.
The Intel version of the Laptop 13 will launch in May, while the AMD version will be released sometime in the third quarter of the year. Prices start at around $850 if you want to build the computer yourself and around $1,050 if you want it delivered fully assembled.
