Competition from TikTok and Instagram is getting tougher.
YouTube is increasingly competing with TikTok and Instagram. Now the video giant is lowering the requirements to apply for the Youtube Partner Program (YPP), which allows content creators to monetize their content.
As of today, the following requirements apply to apply to join the YPP:
- At least 500 subscribers (previously at least 1000)
- At least 3 public uploads in the last 90 days
- At least 3000 public viewing hours in the last year (previously 4000) or at least 3 million shorts views in the last 90 days (previously 10 million)
Access to monetization features
Once you enter YPP, you will have access to various ways to earn money on Youtube, such as exclusive content, Super Chat, Super Stickers, Super Thanks and the ability to promote your own products through Youtube Shopping.
However, in Sweden we will have to wait a little longer. Reduced requirements are initially being rolled out in the US, UK, Canada, Taiwan and South Korea. Other countries follow suit “further forward”.
In parallel, YouTube is expanding its affiliate program, YouTube Shopping. Starting now, all US-based YouTube users who are part of YPP and have at least 20,000 subscribers can earn money by selling other companies’ products on their videos.
