Warner Bros' Rico Johnson Sinclair, and the British Film Institute's Mia Baez and Ama Ampadu were among speakers at The New Black Film Collective's annual conference in the UK, which showcases black creative talent across the screen industries.
Focusing on the 'opportunity gap', the free event (TNB XPO) will take place from 25 to 28 March at Rich Mix Community Arts Center in London. The program features talks, interactive sessions, promotion and networking.
Johnson-Sinclair, Director of Skills and Training for CrewHQ at Warner Bros Discovery, will deliver the keynote address addressing the gap between potential and opportunity for Black and global majority creatives.
Baez, Director of the BFI Film Fund, and Ampadu, Executive Director of Production and Development at the BFI, will host a session covering the first year of the new fund as well as revealing details of upcoming funded projects and discussing opportunities.
Other speakers include Babak Jani, Head of Skills at Film London, who will talk about a new skills group in London; and Janice Turner, Diversity Officer at Pictou, who will consult with attendees on issues related to racial equity in television drama.
Also speaking are figures from the Documentary Film Council, Film Distributors Association, Doc Society and Renaissance Studios.
The fourth day will include online roundtables with speakers from the US, South America, the Caribbean, Europe and Africa as well as the BFI's Global Screen Fund, with the aim of promoting international co-productions.
