Viaplay is bringing the world-famous reality format “Celebrity MasterChef” to the Netherlands for the first time, starting in the fall. The 12-episode first season was produced by SimpelZodiak, a company of Banijay Benelux, and features 10 Dutch celebrities who face an array of culinary challenges before a star jury and compete to become the next ‘Celebrity MasterChef’. Viaplay launched in the Netherlands on March 1 with a unique blend of original productions, international films and series, children’s content and premium live sports.
The jury for the “Celebrity MasterChef” consists of Soenil “The Spicy Chef” Bahadoer, founder of the famous De Lindehof restaurant, which received a second Michelin star in 2014; Angelique Schmink, one of only two Dutch female chefs (the country’s most famous culinary title) and head chef for 12 years at the Michelin-starred De Kromme Dissel; and Joel Prockert, famous food critic, columnist and presenter.
The series’ 10 celebrity contestants will be announced soon.

Designed by Frank Rodham, “MasterChef” was named “Best Cooking Television Format” by Guinness World Records and is the most successful format ever by WIT. The program was first broadcast in the UK in 1990, and 49 series were produced in 33 regions in 2021. Banijay represents the “MasterChef” format and completed programs internationally. Viaplay has been producing MasterChef in Denmark since 2011.
