The future of TV4 Sports is revealed in the classic program “Canon and Turkey”.
In the clip, Matthias Tjernström tells that sports broadcasts have been shut down.
– Today came the news of the closure of sports broadcasting on TV4, an era ending. Now Sweden’s largest TV channel and media house no longer broadcasts purely sports news. Curtains, but we fight.
Instead, sports news will now be part of the regular newscast.
– TV4 sport will continue to present sports news but not as a single programme, but will be part of TV4 news, Efter fem, Nyhetsmorgon, broadcasting our events as well as digitally, the channel’s head of sports Eric Westberg tells Evening newspaper.
“I can’t paint hell on the wall…”
Longtime employee Max Grindal doesn’t know what to think of the news.
– It’s relatively new. I found out yesterday. I can’t paint hell on the wall until I know how it turns out. The nostalgia in this old press is screaming, and it’s just so sad. But still, it’s just a new suit. This does not necessarily mean degradation. I have to trust my boss, says Grindal, and continues:
– that the program disappears is sad. At the same time, you are also sober. I remember when they closed the broadcast on Sunday. Today, Legos are built at that time rather – times change.
What explanation did you receive? Are there financial reasons?
– Little. Anyway, there was talk of billboards, the part where we say “The software was presented before…”, which we would normally have been embedded in, we are no longer allowed to use. Then we mark up money on it, of course. Then the solution is that we instead integrate into the news.
