Tour in Great Britain dominates spring with Gävle Symphony Orchestra – Gefle Dagblad

Tour in Great Britain dominates spring with Gävle Symphony Orchestra – Gefle Dagblad

Three years ago, the band from Gävle left and met an international audience for the last time. Then, in the spring of 2020, the band barely made it home before the pandemic hit hard and countries shut down. However, the Gävle Symphony Orchestra managed to complete its tour and received acclaim.

Despite the mid-season break with the Kavle Symphony Orchestra, home audiences can still join the tour. As a warm-up before departure, a concert awaits on March 9 with the poster name soloist during the tour: violinist Nemanja Radulović. Leading the orchestra during the tour is former principal conductor Jaime Martin.

The program includes music by Khachaturian, Tchaikovsky, Krieg and Sibelius. The audience learns about the Gävle composer Bo Linde (even at home, the band continues to focus on its hometown composer, during the tour, Linde will play on January 26).

Cheltenham, Edinburgh and London are some of the cities in Great Britain that will be visited this time by the Gävle Symphony Orchestra. Or “Swedish Philharmonia – Caval Symphony Orchestra”, the orchestra is known for its international adventures.

But while this tour is considered the big event of the Gävle Symphony Orchestra’s spring season, a performance on the home stage also awaits. The sports year continues, as program manager Rosa Nolceva said in an article last fall, and nature is a recurring theme in programming, as it was last fall.

Among the guests at the Gävle Konserthus in conductors and soloists are current names on Sweden’s biggest stages for classical music.

– Gävle audiences receive a high standard similar to the largest Swedish orchestras. I am very proud of it, says Rosa Noltseva.

Among the soloists coming to Gävle in the spring, in addition to the already presented Nemanja Radulović, we can mention Stefan Jackiw (violin), Peter Moore (trombone) and Behzod Abduraimov (piano). The three guest conductors are Case Scaglione, Fabio Biondi and Gemma New.

But the visiting stars are not the only ones highlighted: in recent years, the Gävle Symphony Orchestra has turned its attention to its own musicians, and this spring (26 January) clarinetist Kristina Lindby is stepping up in concert. “Mozart’s Linz Symphony” where he plays Bo Linde’s “Pezzo Concertante”.

The program features great names in classical music such as Mozart, Sibelius and Haydn, but also newly written and rarely performed works will find Gävle audiences. On January 26, we will hear the Gävle premiere of Charles Ive’s “Three Places in New England”, on February 23 the Gävle premiere of Ida Moberg’s “Sunrise” and on April 6, the European premiere of Dani Howard’s trombone concerto awaits.

We’ll get back to what’s in store for the season finale on May 11. The Gävle Symphony Orchestra is still under wraps and will reveal the season finale in the spring.
