Hockey WC 2023 is now over and it is clear what positions the team holds. Just like last year, Tre Kronor finished sixth.

Of the four nations eliminated in the same round as Tre Kronor, Sweden is ranked second in the final standings. This was due to the large number of points collected during the group stage, with only Switzerland having a better number than the 5-8 teams. In the same way, the teams that missed the playoffs are ranked based on their positions in the table and the number of points collected.

Germany’s silver tied previous records set in 1930 and 1953, while Latvia’s third-place finish is the team’s best ever finish in a World Cup finals. Prior to this year’s tournament, the host nation had finished seventh at best and thus never made it past the quarter-finals.

But it didn’t go well for the Finnish team. Seventh place is Finland’s worst placement since 2005. For the Czech Republic, eighth place is, in turn, the team’s worst ever placement.
