British actors Kate Phillips, Amber Anderson and Rosie Day have launched Just John Films, a film and television production company based in London.
The company will select, develop and produce projects independently as well as collaborate with third parties.
Projects on Just John's initial slate include a feature adaptation of Annie Garthwaite's 2021 novel CecilyWhich tells the story of Cecily Neville, the matriarch of the York family and a political player during the 15th century.y The Wars of the Roses in the century.
Just John is also working on an untitled Sylvia Plath project with Helen Jones and Naomi Wright's Silver Salt Films, for which he has credits including Branno's Billy Bond. Sgt.
More titles on Just John's roster will be announced in the coming months.
Just John aims for a “unique, artist-led point of view to create diverse and compelling stories with the understanding that a welcoming and joyful environment enhances the creativity and quality of everyone's work,” according to the company.
“We don't have to compromise on exceptional quality by ensuring that everyone's well-being and mental health are prioritized,” Day said. “Female-centric stories have made their way through my work and I'm very excited to develop like-minded projects with two amazing women.”
“There's nothing more fun than working with friends, and I can't wait to bring amazing groups of talented people together, doing meaningful and thought-provoking work,” Anderson said. Day and Phillips were previously named a screen Stars of Tomorrow as actors in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
