Saab is supplying the British Army with a new generation of Arthur radar

Saab has delivered five units of the new generation Arthur Artillery Locating Radar to the British Army. These systems will further strengthen the artillery emplacement capability of the British Army.

The new generation of Arthur, named TAIPAN in the UK, gives the army the ability to quickly regroup and regroup through high tactical mobility. The system, based on Saab's digital radar technology, enables it to combat artillery with greater accuracy, giving the user the ability to detect a greater number of threats at longer distances than ever before. New digital technology makes it more difficult for an adversary to find a computer. Five new Arthur systems were formally received by the British Army's 5th Regiment Royal Artillery in July this year.

– We are proud to contribute to the British Army's artillery detection capability with a new version of our Arthur radar. We have a long relationship with the customer who has used previously delivered systems in various missions in countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan. The British Army is the first user of the new generation of Arthur and we look forward to continuing to contribute our capabilities,” says Andy Fraser, head of Saab UK.

– Saab is an important partner for Arthur as a supplier and we are impressed with the capabilities that Saab can contribute to the British Armed Forces. The previous generation of the Arthur is well proven and the new one represents a huge leap forward in capability,” said Master Gunner Lieutenant General Sir Andrew Gregory KBE CB, St James' Park.
