Rohden’s top scorer – in their first international match in four years

Rohden’s top scorer – in their first international match in four years

The last time Marcus Rohdin was given playing time in the national team was on October 16, 2018, when he scored nine minutes in an international training match against Slovakia. A month later he was selected for the Nations League meetings with Russia without getting any playing time, and has since been left out of the national team.

This group finally had a chance again – and he took advantage of it.

“Obviously you want to perform well and show that you’re still at this level,” Rohden tells SVT Sport.

After a great play from Matthias Svanberg, Rohden sealed a 1-0 win against Mexico ten minutes into the second half.

– I really don’t have time to think too much. It’s just a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Rohdin says he feels so great when he’s on the run, scoring goals for the national team is a big deal.

Union Captain Anderson was satisfied with what he saw:

– He runs a few meters, this boy, you can say, plus he does it well and fills himself up and scores. It’s great fun for “Roddan,” Anderson says.

But the joy was short-lived after Rohden’s 1-0 goal as Mexico equalized just six minutes later through Alexis Vega.

However, Sweden didn’t give up, and with just over five minutes remaining in regular time, Matthias Svanberg sealed the match with his goal, 2-1.
