Iran: Nuclear deal closer than ever

Earlier on Wednesday, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Trian said it was time to reach an agreement.

“It’s not about the weeks, it’s about the days,” he said in a speech to the French Senate.

Negotiations in Vienna Indirectly covering Iran, France, the United Kingdom, China, Germany and Russia and the United States resumed at the end of November. The goal is to revive the 2015 agreement. It then promised to lift sanctions against Iran in exchange for restrictions on its nuclear program.

In 2018, then-President Donald Trump pulled the United States out of the deal, after which it actually caused a rift in the joints. Among other things, Iran is enriching uranium more than it needs for nuclear power and more than allowed in the deal.

– We need political decisions from the Iranians. They have a very clear choice, says Le Drian.

– Either they will issue a serious crisis in the next few days … or they will accept an agreement that respects the interests of all parties, especially Iran.
