A diplomatic storm erupted with France on one side and Australia, the United States and Britain on the other. It is about a torn submarine agreement between France and Australia and a new alliance between Australia and France’s allies, the United States and the United Kingdom. France’s defense minister has described the new alliance as a “knife in the back” and crisis talks between Macron and Biden are expected this week.
