Slovakia have never gone beyond the round of 16 at a European Championship. But today they are very close to making history in Slovak football.
The team was about 90 seconds away from the final whistle when England star Jude Bellingham scored the equaliser to make the score 1-1 in the 95th minute of the match.
England then made it 2-1 straight into extra time, and now qualify for the quarter-finals.
The Slovaks, who had made a heroic effort, were then devastated.
“It is a huge and painful disappointment,” David Hanko tells SVT Sport.
– I'm so proud of the boys' effort. We should stay here and not have to go home. We held on for so long, but then Bellingham scored their fantastic goal. You can see why he's mentioned as one of the best players in the world when he shows such quality at such a crucial stage.
England now face Switzerland in the quarter-finals on Saturday. Here are all the broadcast times.
