Cricklade Leisure Center has confirmed that the government body is awarding it £58,000 as part of a swimming pool support fund.
A Cricklyde Town Council spokesperson said: “This amazing grant will go towards installing photovoltaics (solar panels) and triple glazing for our swimming pool windows.
“This represents an important step in our long-term sustainability plan, ensuring a brighter and more energy efficient future for our community.
“Thank you to Sport England, the National Lottery and Cricklade City Council for supporting our vision.
Cricklade Leisure Center is one of more than 300 swimming pools and leisure centers in England awarded grants to help boost energy efficiency and keep running costs low.
The only other local community to receive a grant as part of this round is… Linkage Center in Swindon, which receives £115,000
Lisa Dodd-Main from Sport England said: “Swimming pools and leisure centers are vital community resources and are hugely important in helping people get physically active.
“We hope that today’s funding announcement will enable more public parks to improve their energy efficiency and be more environmentally and financially sustainable, so that they remain available for future generations to enjoy.”
