Covid and whooping cough are on the rise

If you are over 65, it is your vaccination day soon. COVID-19 is on the rise again, as is whooping cough, as a result of the pandemic.

About 100 people in Stockholm are currently being treated in hospital for coronavirus, and according to the Public Health Agency, the spread of the virus is increasing.

From mid-October, the older part of the population will be required to be vaccinated, but healthy people under 65 do not need to increase previous vaccine doses.

– We will start the autumn vaccination efforts in mid-October, which include vaccines against Covid-19 and influenza, says state epidemiologist Magnus Gislin. Al-Masaa Newspaper.

This spring, there will be another call for vaccination against the coronavirus, but this only applies to people over 80 and those in another risk group.

At the same time, the number of cases of whooping cough is also increasing due to the decrease in immunity during the epidemic years. Pregnant women are therefore advised to be vaccinated against whooping cough, as the disease can be dangerous for newborns. Infants are vaccinated in the general vaccination programme at three months of age, but may need protection before that.
