Bones and everything

Directed by Luca Guadagnino, with Timothée Chalamet, Taylor Russell, Mark Rylance, Jessica Harper, Michael Stullberg, and Chloe Sevigny.

Horror movie, road movie, love story.

“Bones and Everything” is all of that and more. Because it is about cannibals!

Ahead of its world premiere at this year’s Venice Film Festival, everything was a little secret about the film. The main attraction was the director’s reunion Luca Guadagnino And the hot young star Timothée Chalametis the director’s blockbuster Oscar-winning lesbian novel Call me by your name (2017).

Then it was leaked that the main characters were cannibals. This was the model Camille DeAngelis Novel for young people.

A book that is little more than a movie told from a female and slightly feminist perspective.
Main character Marin (Taylor RussellFrom the movie “Awake”) He wants those around him to love him like everyone else, but at the same time he harbors a terrible secret that puts an end to that. At the age of 16, her mother abandoned her (Chloe Sevigny). decided to look for her father (Andre Holland). When she goes to sleep at a friend’s house, her secret instincts take over and she bites her friend’s finger.

revealed again. The father also abandons her and Marin is alone in the world.

I encountered a mysterious old man, Sully (Mark Rylance, in comic form), which helps her understand who she really is. One hundred percent cannibals. Explain how they recognize each other by smell. Soon, Marine meets a handsome young man, Lee (Timothée Chalamet), and together they embark on a journey across the United States.
Well, it’s a horror movie, because when cannibals have to eat, it’s pure carnage.

But Guadagnino does not depict them as monsters but rather as aliens forced to satisfy their lusts.

Well, it’s a road movie, because they’re traveling from state to state in the American Midwest. The time is the 80’s and it’s quite clear that the Italian director is deeply fascinated by what the United States was like at the time.

Well, it is, in a sense, a love story, too. and a poignant and profound portrayal of two young adults searching for who they are and why and how they ought to do, perhaps, some kind of belonging to ordinary society.

Strange as it may sound, this is a very entertaining movie about some cannibals. Good job, a bit exciting, very well played. And another film on Chalamet’s path to stardom (if not already).

The movie is shown in cinemas.
