Sweden will be chasing a spot in the elite division of the Billie Jean King Cup on November 11-12. Friday’s play-off against Great Britain in London ended in a draw.
Here’s how the international competition works:
Saturday 11 November
Jodi Burrage – Gaja Rinaldo Persson
Katie Boulder – Keiza Henman
Sunday, November 12
Katie Boulder – Gaja Rinaldo Persson
Jody Burrage – Kaija Henman
Harriet Dart / Heather Watson – Lisa Jahr / Bella Bergquist Larson
Sweden’s Billie Jean King Cup captain Johanna Larsson commented on the selection.
– Exciting Raffle! I think both Kajsa and Caijsa have been doing well in training, they have had a lot of good wins in recent weeks, so the selection fell on them. It will be a tough match against good opposition but we are fully confident that we have a chance to win.
The decider is played on the hard court at the Copper Box Arena in London and consists of four singles matches and one doubles match, all decided in the best of three sets. The venue is expected to be sold out on both days.
The winner qualifies for the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup Qualifying Round, a directly decisive international tournament where a place in the finals of the World Tennis Team Championships – the Billie Jean King Cup Final – will be secured.
