King Charles III delivers his first address to the nation
On Friday evening, King Charles III delivered his first address to the nation as king.
The King began the speech by paying tribute to his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
– I promise to be dutiful to my mother all her years, he says.
– Sacrificed a large part of his life to keep his promise to serve the people. And she never broke that promise.
He spoke of the times when his mother was the queen, and how she always mixed her work with piety and humility.
– Wherever you live in the world, whatever your background or faith, I will serve you with respect.
Raja also mentioned that he had to change his life now:
– I am now forced to give up my interests which I care about. But I hope others will continue to work on these issues.
He ended the speech by paying tribute to his son Prince William, who is now the “Duke of Cornwall” and “Prince of Wales”. The King sent his warmest wishes to Prince Harry and Meghan.
– To my mother, I want to say: Thank you for everything you do!
Charles III will be formally sworn in as King on Saturday, although the coronation will be delayed.
