EC Bronze for Sweden in the Mixed Final

Bjorn Seliger broke a personal record on the leg in the semi-finals when Sweden reached the final with a time of 48.07. Once there, he was first in the water when Sweden finished third. Seliger replaced Robin Hanson for second with a time of 48.09.

– I am so happy. Lasse (Frölander) complained because I was too fast. Now I’m well done halfway through, Seelinger says.

Then the 21-year-old Hanson dropped some places even though he did well.

– There were hard days here before, so I’m happy with the time, says Hanson.

Good start for the ladies

Then star Sarah Sjöström took over and swam Sweden to first place and a good medal.

The boys gave me a good starting position and I was satisfied with swimming.

There, Louise Hanson, gold medalist in the 100-meter butterfly, received it and took Sweden’s second medal for the evening.

‘dig under the head’

She finished third, behind the victorious France and Britain after a fantastic finish. The bronze is Sweden’s second in Rome during the European Championships, after the women’s silver in the Team Cup.

– it is very beautiful. It was pure will in the end, Hanson says, and I had no idea who the competitors were.

The medal is the first for Selinger and Hanson at an international tournament.
