Casey Rivera was out driving around 8 p.m. a few miles outside of Sacramento on Thursday when he saw a family of ducks trying to cross the road. The 41-year-old then got out of the car to help the ducks.

Many area residents saw the whole thing and applauded Rivera’s work, said a 12-year-old boy who witnessed the incident. NBC.

– Everyone clapped because he did something very nice. He said he helped them over the sidewalk because they had trouble getting up.

No criminal suspicion

Once the ducks crossed the road, the 17-year-old showed up in his car and drove into Rivarra. She stayed at the scene during the investigation and, according to the police, will not be charged with any crime. The ducks escaped without any injuries.

– We still have a lot to go through, but initially there didn’t appear to be any criminal negligence in the incident, Police Officer Scott Horello tells NBC.

The man’s widow, Angel Chao, says she feels the support of everyone who brought the incident to their attention.

– We are deeply touched by the great love and support we have received in recent days, she says in a statement.
