In many Swedish media, the riots in Great Britain are portrayed as being about right-wing extremism. However, British pastor Alistair Scott sees the unrest as part of a larger phenomenon.
Three teenage girls were murdered in England just a week ago. After that, the country was rocked by violent riots that spread to many cities.
– The situation is very challenging. Alistair Scott, who is responsible for work at the Kingdom Faith Council with a residence outside of London, for both government, police and civilians, says in a telephone interview with Världen today.
By Alistair Scott Having previously lived in Uppsala, he was thus well acquainted with Swedish society. Many Swedish media give the impression that right-wing extremists are the root cause of the violent riots.
Scott did not share the picture. He believes that it is not fundamentally about politics, but about frustrated people like football hooligans taking to the streets and squares to fight. Aggressive mentality is also fueled on social media, which spreads.
The preacher further points out that what is happening does not come as a bolt from the blue. He cites the loud and vociferous pro-Palestinian activists who express their hatred of Israel as a significant influencing factor in the social climate.
– I know you have the same problem in Sweden, says Scott.
deep meaning The pastor, however, said the riots had spiritual reasons.
– This is an attack on our nation on the spiritual plane. He says that it started in one place and is now spreading.
– But the good thing is that we as Christians can pray against these spirits. Let's ask for more wisdom from the government and the police.
A believer who reads his Bible needn't wonder what's going on, he insists.
