In 2021, about 440,000 people received a tax break for gifts. In total, it was SEK 400 million and the average tax reduction was SEK 912. In Jönköping County, the highest average amount of SEK 936 was recorded. It is provided by the Swedish Tax Agency in a press release.
This year, the maximum tax deduction was raised from SEK 1,500 to SEK 3,000. This means that The amount of a gift that can provide a tax break has been raised from 6,000 SEK to 12,000 SEK because the tax cut is 25 percent, the authority knows.
– Anyone who gives more than SEK 200 to registered gift recipients will receive control information for next year’s declaration. To get a share of the tax reduction, the total amount for accredited organizations must be at least SEK 2,000, Helena Gangl Stride, business developer at the Swedish Tax Agency, says in a comment.
The authority’s website shows gift recipients who are registered and therefore covered with the tax deduction.
