EU politicians should stop speaking English

EU politicians should stop speaking English

From time to time we watch TV features on the EU Parliament from Brussels and Strasbourg. We can see the official speeches and appearances of various EU politicians. Most of these EU representatives still use the English language even though the UK has left the EU. English still seems to be the official language in European powers.

It is embarrassing to hear EU ministers and representatives continue to speak poor and “weak” English in these contexts. In the case of long speeches, it becomes dull and boring. You’re missing the “text”. I don’t understand why they don’t use more simultaneous interpretation instead. This means they speak in their mother tongue while receiving interpretation in the various official 24 languages of the European Union. It’s the best of all, I think.

In contrast, Commission President German Ursula van der Leyen speaks English without an accent. In addition, he speaks French very well.

Does the UK get any compensation because the EU still uses English as a first language? We should hear what the new Prime Minister Liz Truss has to say.
