She added that both countries have an obligation to responsibly manage this relationship to find a way to live together and share in global prosperity.
Yellen sums up the talks in China as “direct, substantive and productive” despite the “significant differences” between the two countries.
She said that my bilateral meetings, which lasted a total of about ten hours over two days, were a step forward in our endeavor to put US-China relations on a more stable footing.
The aim of the visit was to highlight issues related to global economic development, as well as the importance of managing the relationship between countries in a responsible manner, according to the US Treasury Department.
Last June, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken visited Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing. The two countries considered the meeting a breakthrough in the frosty relations that worsened with regard to the February incident in which the United States shot down a Chinese balloon over American territory. The United States claimed it was a spy balloon, which China vehemently denied.
