OnTheMarket says that it is looking to emulate the product set that Rightmove offers its agents by introducing more back office tools for them and improving the functionally of its platform.
CEO Ian Springett made the announcement during a recent interview with financial social media channel Director’s Talk, perhaps suggesting that OnTheMarket has set its sights on the Rightmove model.
Springett said: “We’re looking to match Rightmove’s product set that it provides for agents, and that means the introduction of more back office tools that are relied on by agents. We want to provide all of that functionality through OnTheMarket.”
Springett’s comments, perhaps intentionally or unintentionally, provide something of an insight into the arcane workings of the property portals sector: In simple terms it is not just brand name and image that are important for success. The platform behind the brand and, as part of that, the tools that are available to agents are just if not more important.
