Sweden and Finland as potential NATO members and future Nordic defense cooperation are on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting in Bornholm. It was held at the same time as the US multinational exercise Defender-Europe 22.
The Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs received guidance and presentation during the exercise. As part of the exercise, parts of the Danish Army, Navy and Air Force were trained for coastal defense from Bornholm and in the Baltic Sea with the United States. The exercise focuses on building readiness and interoperability between the United States, NATO, and partner nations.
More about Defender-Europe
Defender-Europe is an umbrella for various exercise activities, as HIRAIN in Bornholm is part of several US Army-led exercises in Europe and Africa. The goal is to demonstrate military capability, the ability to quickly build combat forces, and the ability to deploy forces to NATO operations in different parts of Europe.
