An eleven-year-old girl from England gave birth in June. According to The sun The girl’s family knew nothing about the pregnancy, but both the woman and the baby were reported to be fine after birth.
– She is now surrounded by experts who help her. The main thing is that she and the baby are OK. There are questions about how those around you don’t know. This is very worrying, a source close to the family told The Sun.
The girl was ten years old when she became pregnant. British Social Services is now exploring the circumstances surrounding pregnancy.
Physician: “Increased risk of premature birth and infections”
Dr Carol Cooper told the newspaper she had never heard of anyone giving birth so young, which often had to do with puberty in girls.
– The average age at which girls reach puberty is eleven, but it can occur between the ages of eight and 14 or older. Weight is affected by many hormones. Because babies are overweight today, puberty has already occurred.
Being born at such a young age carries so many risks, he explains.
– There is a higher risk of being underweight in childbirth, preeclampsia, preterm birth and infections.
Carol Cooper says one in 2,500 births takes place without the mother knowing about the pregnancy.
In 2006, Teresa Middleton was recognized as the youngest mother in the country at the age of 12. Also in 2014, a 12-year-old girl gave birth to a baby boy and later became the father of a 13-year-old boy.
