People really love The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The Switch-exclusive game currently has one of the highest Metacritic ratings of all time (which indicates that it’s a media favorite), and the latest UK physical copy sales figures clearly prove that consumers are loving the sequel, too.
Gamesindustry.biz Tears of the Kingdom now claims to have surpassed the Hogwarts Legacy record for the biggest physical game launch in the UK in 2023, with 50% more copies sold. With more than 2.7 times the sales of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, this cemented the game as the biggest Zelda release in the country’s history.
Likewise, Tears of the Kingdom is already the eighth biggest Zelda game in the UK, and after just three days on sale, if you look at revenue alone, it’s the fourth biggest Zelda game of all time.
However, Tears of the Kingdom trails Pokémon Scarlet/Violet as the biggest Switch launcher in the UK by number of copies shipped, but beats Game Freak’s Pocket Monster Adventure as the biggest Switch launcher ever in the UK by revenue.
Of course we thought it would go well, but we have to say it exceeded our expectations. Have you read our review where we explain why you should get it?
