Russian move to stop the attack: blowing up a new dam

The Mokry Yali River in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region has been an important site in the country’s counter-offensive, which has recently scored major successes.

In the past week, the country’s military has recaptured seven villages, according to Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar. The first four liberated were along the Makri Yali River, Guardian reports. It will be about Blahodatne, Neskuchne, Makarivka and Storozheve.

Ukraine: a new attack on the dust

Ukraine now accuses Russian forces of blowing up a dam along the river, in an attempt to counter the country’s gains in the region.

The alleged attack reportedly took place on Monday, just a week after the collapse of a dam at the Kakhovka power plant in southern Ukraine.

The Ukrainian military spokesman in the area along the front, Valeriy Chershin, was reported to have said Ukrainian news agency Pravda that the dam destroyed and caused floods on both sides of the river. However, he believes that the attempt to slow down the Ukrainian counter-offensive failed.

The Guardian writes that there is information that it is a dam in the village of Klyuchov, but the destruction has not been confirmed by independent sources.
