Comic Con has been relocated in Stockholm and Gothenburg due to the pandemic

The dates for the Nordic region’s largest popular cultural event, Comic Con, have been changed several times since meeting restrictions were imposed due to the pandemic in March this year. Now comes the news that Comic Con Stockholm will be pushed forward again and Comic Con Gothenburg will be completely canceled in 2021. The reason is still the uncertain situation that prevails in Sweden and the world due to Covid-19.

Comic Con Stockholm is an established popular cultural event with a large crowd of fans. In September 2019, more than 30,000 visitors came to Kistamässan to mingle with cartoonists, actors, filmmakers and other creative people. Due to the pandemic, this year’s version has been introduced from September 2020 to March 2021, hoping that the event will be feasible. However, it is now clear that fans will have to wait until the fall of 2021 before Comic Con Stockholm opens the doors to Comic Con Stockholm in Kistamässan again.

We always hoped to be able to implement Comic Con in Spring 2021 and worked for it. Now, of course, it is very sad to announce once again that we are delaying the event. But to be able to maintain the quality of our events, ensure the high dignity of invited international guests and welcome thousands of visitors, that is the right decision, says Christian Coleman, Comic Con in the Nordics.

Last year, Comic Con premiered on the West Coast, when 15,000 people attended the Åby Gallery in the first-ever edition of Comic Con Gothenburg. Success was real. So it was a huge disappointment among fans when this year’s edition was canceled in the spring of this year due to the pandemic and instead a year has gone forward in time, through May 2021. Now that release has also been canceled and a new date for Comic Con Gothenburg is not nailed.

We want nothing better than returning to the West Coast to watch an equally great comedy show in 2020.
