After the drone alarm – here Home Guard monitors Norway’s only refinery

Norway is currently the largest supplier of gas to Europe. At the same time, there were numerous reports of unmanned flights at oil and gas facilities at sea and along the coast.

According to the police, it is about “a large number of notes over several months”, but exactly the number of classified notes.

The refinery in Mongstad is the only one in Norway, and among those watching there is now optometrist Paal Nävdal.

The duty of guarding the homeland

In Norway, there is conscription, and among the soldiers in Mongstad, in addition to the optician Pal Nevdal, there are also carpenters, IT technicians and paramedics who had to leave their jobs to wear uniforms.

The enemy wants to create uncertainty

In addition to oil and gas facilities, a large number of drone surveillance operations in other critical infrastructure are also being investigated. Several airports were affected, including in Bergen where the airspace was recently closed after a drone alert.

It can be a way for someone to create uncertainty and fear and show that you are there, says Torgils Lutro, chief of the PST Norwegian Security Police in Western Norway.
