The television series, which was marketed as a miniseries and covered the entire book by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, which formed the basis of the series, will continue.
Although the first season was well received and both fans and Amazon themselves said it could have been fun with a sequel, the news still came as a surprise. The plot of the first season, marketed as a miniseries, was based on Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s book The Good Omen: The Gentle and Precise Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, the Witch. However, there is a good explanation as to why you are now choosing to order an additional season:
– It’s been 31 years since “Good Fortune” [boken] has been published. Which means it’s been 32 years since Terry Pratchett and I lay on our own beds in a hotel room in Seattle, during the World Fantasy Convention, and started thinking about a sequel. I was able to use parts of that sequel in ‘Good Omens’. [tv-serien] The parts that talk about the source of the angels. Terry is no longer with us, but when he was still alive, we talked about what we wanted to do with the “good fortune” and where the story could take us next. Now, thanks to BBC Studios and Amazon, I can get there, Gaiman comments on the news of season two.
In other words, Season 2 will revolve around a completely new story, but still with angel Aziraphale (Sheen) and demon Crowley (Tenant) together at the center of the action. Gaiman will be working as a showrunner with Douglas McKinnon (who will also direct).
Will the collection of funny names give new life?
When the name set was released, Amazon Prime Video (not Netflix, that is) had already released all episodes of its mini-series…so there wasn’t much to worry about. But now it remains to be seen if you make a fresh try!
It’s not currently clear when the second season of “Good Omens” will be ready for its premiere, but we’re already hoping in 2022 or early 2023.
