Ionity is investing heavily in fast chargers in the UK – all about electric cars

While charging operator Ionity doesn’t seem to be growing as fast as some other networks, big investments are underway. This year alone, the network will double in Sweden. Among the important upcoming companies are five new stations being built between Umeå and Jokkmokk.

Ionity is investing in more markets, now announcing a major investment in the UK. In partnership with the Village Hotel chain, Ionity will open 33 stations, with a total of 380 charging points.

The new charging stations will have 12 fast chargers per station and will be open to hotel guests and passers-by. Chargers should have an output of up to 350 kW. The new stations should be ready by 2024.

“Partnering with Village Hotels is an exciting milestone for Ionity as it significantly extends our charging network to all electric car drivers in the UK. This partnership brings us closer to our goal of making electric car charging accessible to everyone and as convenient as possible across Europe,” said Andreas, Ionity’s Regional Director for UK and Ireland. Over the past year, Ionity has established a number of strategic partnerships with major land and property owners across Europe. It is possible to double the charging network in Sweden this year, for example, in cooperation with the property company Regio.

Ionity currently has over 500 Ionity stations in Europe.
